Pierrot Colonna was born in Paris in the mid 70’s. Not interested in the typical school system, he managed to get a job in a newspaper as a messanger. A few months later his relationship with the photographers at the newspaper lead him to learn the basics of photography and start shooting stills. After a few years Pierrot met someone who changed his life, a war reporter that worked for the Capa agency in Paris. The stories and style of that cameraman changed Pierrot’s life forever and a passion was born, along with a friendship too.
With France's economy stagnating in the mid 90's, Pierrot moved to New York to achieve his dream: becoming one of the best cameramen in the world. He worked as a camera assistant on low budget feature films in New York and around the states,
“it’s a great way to learn.” He fell in love with the movie business and after a few years his new goal was to be a director of photography.
Over the years Pierrot has worked with great directors and D.P.’s such as Hype Williams, Paul Hunter, Abel Ferrara and many others.
He was hired to shoot music videos for a french production company and his second music video became number one in France.
Pierrot has now shot more than 40 music videos in 35mm and 16mm, a dozen commercials and various projects including documentaries and promos.
With his european sensitivity and American training, Pierrot Colonna is without a doubt an upcoming D.P. with a unique style and passion.
